The seas occupy three quarters of our planet and among its most impressive inhabitants are cetaceans, with about 87 species. Of these, half have been spotted in Chile, making our country a privileged place to study them. This is what appeals to Sonia Español, researcher and coordinator of the cetacean area of MERI Foundation, which since November 2018 has been leading a project to control the speed of vessels sailing in the whale and dolphin feeding area. “It is the country’s debt, but we are just in time to bring about change,” she says.
