We invite you to watch the documentary “Cachalote, Patagonia Explorer”, an audiovisual work that accompanied the application of this innovative vessel for one of the most important ocean-related recognitions in the world.
The “Cachalote”, a project created by Francisca Cortés Solari (@franciscacortessolari), was distinguished by The Honours 2025, the highest international award in maritime innovation and sustainability, considered by many as the “Nobel Prize of the Sea.” 🌊🏆
Inspired by the ancestral heritage of Patagonian and Antarctic peoples, Cachalote integrates traditional knowledge with cutting-edge technology, honoring the cultures that have navigated and protected these waters since time immemorial.
In addition, it obtained the international Sea Index Exclusive Member certification—an index that measures CO₂ emissions from vessels—positioning it as a low-emission ship and a global benchmark in technology and sustainability. 🚢💙🌍
Built in #Chiloé by the NavikChile shipyard, and designed by Natalia Assler and Vicente Zegers, this vessel reflects a profound vision that unites territory, culture, and science in the service of conservation.
