Fancisca Cortés Solari
President Filantropía Cortés Solari
Francisca is a businesswoman, conservationist, and philanthropist, who has dedicated her life to the service of initiatives for the Integral and Sustainable Development of Chile and the world.
With an extensive background in the world of design and retail, in 2002 she founded Philanthropy Cortés Solari (PCS), a philanthropic project that promotes Integral and Sustainable Development through Education, Science and Conservation, in a context of climate urgency.
PCS has been working for 20 years in programs at the service of Integral Education, focused on the educational community in Chile and Latin America, with an experiential character and in connection with nature, covering more than 7,000 young people and teachers per year.
In the scientific field, PCS conservate three ecosystems (L22 South, Atacama Desert, L33 South, Central Chile and L 44 South, Northern Chilean Patagonia), all strategic territories for the mitigation of Climate Change, named Elemental Reserves.
In these three laboratories, PCS implements a multidimensional Effective Conservation Model, which includes environmental, cultural, social and economic aspects.
PCS seeks to promote partnerships between the public, private and civil society sectors.
Among the main projects of PCS are:
1. Conservation of the 3 ecosystems already mentioned.
2. BBI, bioacoustic technology to alert vessels to the presence of whales and avoid collisions in Northern Patagonia.
3. Annual organization of the Science for Climate Action Pavilion at the Conference of the Parties, together with the IPCC and WMO.
4. Profes en Red, program that seeks to train and provide skills to teachers in the new challenges of Education.
During these 20 years, Francisca has received several national and international awards for her leadership and innovation.
