\nThis Monday, November 1, the first \u201cIPCC Panel on Health and Climate Change\u201d was inaugurated at COP26 in Glasgow, jointly organized by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), United Kingdom Met Office; the Foundation Prince Albert II de Monaco; the Monaco Scientific Center; and MERI Foundation.<\/p>\n

The panel featured prominent personalities who emphasized the impacts of climate change on health, including Prince Albert II of Monaco; MERI’s Executive President, Francisca Cort\u00e9s Solari; WMO Secretary General, Peteri Taalas; IPCC Chairman, Hoesung Lee, and Chile\u2019s Minister of Science, Andr\u00e9s Couve.<\/p>\n

In this regard, Marcelo Mena, Director of MERI, pointed out that Chile\u2019s marine protected areas have been important sources for sustainable coastal and community growth.
\nFor his part, Dr. Herv\u00e9 Raps, from the Monaco Scientific Center, emphasized the urgency of addressing air pollution as the main focus of the health emergency. <\/p>\n
